Facing the Facts / BPDFamily.com is a co-op of family, friends, and relationship partners of individuals with borderline personality disorder from all walks of life. We have 27,000 alumni and members. Each day more than 2,500 individuals visit this site to read and post. 42% stay for more than an hour.
This site is operated by volunteers. Members of the operating committee include community leaders, businessmen, clergy, healthcare workers, teachers, parents and others. Members of the operating committee are not affiliated with any companies or products or services targeted at this audience.

Doctor of Medicine (M.D. or D.M.) is a doctorate level degree held by medical doctors. The PhD and PsyD are a doctorate level degrees in psychology; the PhD is traditionally the more academic, research-oriented degree, while the PsyD degree develops skills associated with clinical practice. LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker - this license typically requires a Master Degree in psychology and the completion of a clinical practice internship. An MS is a masters level degree in psychology. CPC (Clinical Program Coordinator) is a position title.

Third Party Articles: All third party articles include a link to the original source documents and a brief "bio" on the author. There are also some anonymous essays on the site (mostly in sidebars). In all cases, the author is identified as a ghost writer; names are not published to protect the privacy of the families. Readers "vote on", and critique the articles presented and participate in the article selection.
Searchable Database: This site contains a searchable database of 750 web pages of specific information, that has been pre reviewed. This database includes links to publications from the institutions Mayo, Harvard, National Institute of Health; researchers Kernberg, Schmideberg, Linehan, Gunderson; therapists Carver, Heller, Melton, Oldham, and a 5 year pub-med search, as well as writings from BPDCentral, BPD from The Inside Out, BPDresourcecenter, BorderlinePersonalityToday, mhsanctuary, Suite101, eddylaw, and others.
Message Board / Support Group: The Message Board is a support group for the family and relationship partners of individuals with borderline personality disorder or borderline personality traits. This mission of this board is member self improvement. Requirements for continued membership are five-fold; a) that you have a relationship, current or past, with an individual with borderline personality disorder, b). you want to improve your current situation, c) that you are willing to support others improve theirs, d) that you will comply with the community rules and guidelines below, and e) that you will respect the judgments of the board moderators.
