Hi everyone,
I am curious to know if any of your pwBPDs were helped in a dual diagnosis facility, what we call concurrent disorders up here in Canada.  Personally, that approach was useless for my son; however, I wonder if some of yours were helped and in what ways.

 Hi!
Well, I asked my dd that the otherday, she said they wouldnt treat her for two things at the same time, she asked at the hopsital wheh she was in there.
But she was supposed to be recieving MBT and seeing a drug and alchol worker. The drug worker said they do schema, so I asked if she could get that and her P said no its not good to get both at the same time, so they dont reccomend it over here.

Oh, I've heard good things about schema therapy.  If my dd ever accepts diagnosis and treatment (knowing her) I think that might work better for her than dbt.

We have had no luck with this.  My dd calls DBT therapy for retards and refuses to use the skills or get coached. I guess she prefers having horrid BPD episodes!

Yes Mitzy, same here (yawn yawn) I wish they would just try to grow up and get help. So silly and immature, just getting short term fixes.
I asked dd today, how do you see yourself as a pwBPD going ahead, do you see yourself as a pwBPD not going to therapy at all or a pwBPD who is in therapy. She said oh well I might just do therapy it cant hurt I suppose.
Thing is, her P told me today that my dd said she never wanted to do therapy but I know thats because of the way she told her about it. So she wasnt going to refer her to therapy. So silly I think.

Pattyt,
Why do we have to tell our loved ones they have BPD and they should do dbt or schema, we can just change the name of things, I mean it doesnt mean anything. It was so funny when i used use the word dbt my dd would hate that but schema is ok haha, it reminds me of a toddler
