My son was showing me how double-jointed he is, by manipulating his hands in weird ways.  I thought of frustratedmom's daughter, then I wondered if any of your pwBPD are double-jointed as well.
I am always curious...

nup, none of that weird stuff here  cheesy

I don't think it'd feel too comfortable for me, especially eyeball rolling.

But there is a bit of 'flexibility' that impresses others... (says she clutching at straws)

Mine can bend her thumbs so they look out of joint, and she can form her tongue into sort of a "w" shape.  Parlor tricks.

Wow Reality...hmmm

There are some characteristics for "hyper mobile" joints:

Very Flat feet
Ability to bend the thumb back on the forearm
Elbows or knees goes beyond 10 degrees when fully extended
Tendency to sprain joints easily

What my dd18 has is more severe, and added to this list is the possibility of frequent dislocations, stretchy skin, easy bruising, cornea problems, and potential for much worse stuff involving blood vessels and the heart.

Hmmm, nope.

But DD has started snorting like a pig when she laughs. She thinks its cool.

We think it will keep the boys away. Doing the right thing

My BPD DD23 is "double jointed", and as frustratedmom says, has most of the more severe hypermobile problems associated with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (ED). She is in a wheelchair, having worn out her joints severely and has chronic pain. The wheelchair has become a great "guilt" tool. She was diagnosed with depression at age 11, Bipolar D/O Type I at 13, and BPD in her late teens and early adulthood. Separated undx BPD DH also has mild ED syndrome, Asperger's syndrome (social autism), PTSD. DS has mild ED, Asperger's but is BPD-free.

I'm not sure if the Ehlers-Danlos and BPD is positively linked anywhere, but ED is genetically passed on, as is Asperger's Syndrome, and (from what I now understand), the propensity for BPD.

Goodness, what a sad mix of symptoms. They hurt physically and emotionally!
