Consistency

This has been discussed before, but I could use some input on a specific situation.
I've planned a trip with my son and my parents, for a weekend. My wife has actually encouraged me to do so a while back "why don't you and your parents go somewhere". My son has talked about how much he looks forward to this trip a few times. Every time my wife responds with "yes, me and <daughter> will do <this and this> that weekend and have so much fun!". She acts like it's a competition. Could it be feelings of abandonment that triggers it?
This morning she also threw in "grandmother wants to come and babysit you for a weekend so me and your father can go on a holiday". Not something we've discussed and not something I want to do right now, in our current state.
The reason I headlined it "consistency" is that half a year ago she and her mother went on a trip with our son, has she completely forgotten about that?
