I'm sure lots of others will have solid advice for you, but I just wanted to offer you a "hang in there". Things always seem scariest before you have all the facts, and have adjusted to the idea of something.

What kind of treatment is your partner getting?

What kind of counseling are you getting to learn how to deal with this situation?

My  borderlin personality disorder girlfriend has just been diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder

Interesting, I have a good friend whose husband has been diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder.  I know that  the treatment has been a little different and very slow in progression.  Her husband mostly lives in fantasy and doesn't really connect with people. He pretends when he is around other people and doesn't actually connect because he lives in his head.  What kind of symptoms does she have?  The Meadows is a very good treatment center.  Are they giving you any information of what to expect from treatment?
