Hi, I'm gathering info at the moment about putting someone into hospital for urgent treatment.
As for long term care, here in France, it's up to the hospital after the person's received treatment. But from what I've heard, they go more and more for "day care" where the person goes to the hospital everyday to receive treatment, but sleeps at home.

She hasn't done that lately but talks about how she'll do it if she looses her storage unit.
Is that enough?

Good point, my BPDx told ME he was going to jump under a train, but denies it in front of other people
You need to check wether this is a way to put pressure on you only or if it's real.

It is very difficult to do. I would recommend calling your local crisis center. They will ask you a bunch of questions and help you assess the situation and give you information about the options available in your area.
My sister's husband and I tried to get my sister committed and the most they would do is send an officer to her house to do a welfare check. Also, it is good if you have other people that can corroborate what the sibling is doing. In my area, if three people will go down and sign a paper saying that the person needs help, they will bring them in for observation. I think it is a mental health warrant. But, it is rather easy for the person to talk their way out of it.

In France it requires the signature from 2 doctors + sibling.
But practically, since he wouldn't see a doctor, calling an ambulance can be enough (ambulance doctor + hospital one).
