I am looking for your feedback about something.Imagine you have just read a chapter about what BPD and NPD are like. Which one of these chapters do you want to read right after?a) The High Conflict Relationship. General info about how BPD/npd express themselves in the relationships, eg your role is keeping them happy. I called the High Conflict Relationship.b) Is There Treatment, Can They Get Better, How Can I Get a Diagnosis. (Working title obviously) Immediately answer questions about now that you know about these disorders, you probably want to know will this person change and is there any treatment, and you have to accept they probably won't go to treatment.

I think the chapter on high conflict relationships flows naturally after describing the disorders. Treatment and other intervention can follow after that and address the different issues and I think the treatment part would be better understood when the reader has an idea of how the disorders affect relationships.

I think I would want to read about how they express themselves in relationships. It would help me further confirm whether or not I was dealing with somebody with BPD and/or NPD.

I see the chapters about NPD and BPD along with how they express themselves in a relationship as information gathering.

The treatment stuff, etc is more of "Now that you have gathered all of this information, what can  you do about it."

Agree with the other two replies - HOWEVER, when I have read material on BPD, I sometimes feel burnt out and hopeless before the end.  I'd suggest a chapter on treatment/outcomes toward the end, but include little tidbits about treatment throughout to keep the reader from feeling too down.

I'd agree with your first a, then b ordering. It makes sense-- 1) first them 2) then you and them 3) then what can be done.

I'd suggest lots of examples of SET scenarios. I found it so hard to do! The hardest thing was getting practice -- when things were good there was no need to practice it, but when things would dysregulate (on a dime), the conditions were really tough to practice SET.

So maybe I'd suggest another chapter:

1) BPD/NPD 2) High conflict relationships 3) treatment/getting better 4) how to engage (SET, etc)

another ordering might be:

1) BPD/NPD  2) treatment/getting better 3) High conflict relationships 4) how to engage (SET, etc)

Thanks for all your great work!
