Well this isn't the hi l new message I would have liked to send but it's what's happening. My husband is BPD and I'm just trying to start setting some boundaries. This morning I told him I need to go to bed because I am feeling sick. He told me I was abandoning him. He has super abandonment issues. If I do anything for myself I am abandoning him. I know I need to set limits and take care of myself but this is really hard. Things have been a constant struggle recently. I just realized he's BPD about a week ago. He's also bipolar II the kind that's only depression. That's been going on for years. I'm worn out. Thanks for listening. And it was right to call the police on him, right? He's going to be furious.

PS police found him reading in the car waiting for a coffee shop to open. He is going to be taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Sorry you are enduring this. It is absolutely right to call the police. Good job. Now he can be evaluated. If he is furious he can deal with it with his counsellors. Actions have consequences. He said he was suicidal and you called the police, action -> consequence. Just like every other adult in the world. Take care of yourself.

Good for you Blithe calling the police is a way of taking care of yourself. None of us are equipped to deal with suicidal ideation or threats. This is for the professionals.

I am sorry that you are feeling ill and so worn out. Dealing with the many difficulties that living with someone with mental illness brings can do this.

What's going to happen with regards to the psych eval and how can you protect yourself from his fury, you mentioned boundary setting how have you managed this before ? Blithe do you have supportive friends or family that you could call on or go to if necessary ?

Keep posting and let us know what is happening. Take care of you.
