Just had a parenting session with our children's counselor.

uBPDexhusband stated that he was so happy with how we had been co-parenting the last few months.

I haven't changed a thing I am doing.  Still living by the rules of dealing with BPD.

I watched as the counselor used several redirection techniques, evaluations of his inappropriate behavior and advice on how he could improve.

He never got that she is counseling him in these sessions.

She had told me that she would some day try to get him to see his own counselor but until then she would do her best.  She thinks he is bipolar.

He sat there and lied though.  He said he had to spend $500 on lawyers bills for a disagreement he started with me.  I know for a fact she comped his bill and he didn't pay a dime.

Sometimes I wish I didn't know the truth.  But, knowing that he is still capable of such large lies and can do it completely straight faced helps to reinforce why I can never trust him.

Do. Or do not. There is no try.

So it looks like she's dealt with this kind of dynamic before? That's pretty encouraging actually!

I'm so glad that you have a counselor to help you in this. Even a shift in perception induces "change", so even if you're doing everything the same, and she's helping him see it differently, it's working. All good things.

I'm happy for you.
