My dd24 told me recently about how she is getting into S&M stuff.  She seems to be approaching it in a safe manner with some people who sound quite respectable. Smiling (click to insert in post) She tells me that ordinary life/sex can seem too dull.  Is it common for BPD people to get into this?

My exgf told me she liked to be spanked. We never did it but ive often wondered if she felt like she needed to be punished.

It's fairly common.    Plays into shame and intensity traits.

My DBPD ex wife was into this.  Quite common.  Probably physically safe, but emotionally part of that charged roller coaster they like to ride.  No true intimacy, everyone hides behind their role or personna.

I wonder if it has anything to do with proving to themselves that everyone hurts them. It could be a way of them validating their belief that everyones out to get them and they receive gratification by their thoughts being made manifest.
