Hello BPD family!

My husband and I have a BPD daughter.  She is 19 and was diagnosed a year ago,  She also has depression/anxiety.  She is living on her own because she hates us and says we suffocate her.  We do not know of any other family members who have BPD.  She is an only child and we tried to keep her safe and provide a beautiful loving environment growing up. We are looking for hope, for ideas of how to respond when she rage against us and for tools to help her find some peace.

Thank you so much for being here!

Hello Keepingmyjoy,

Welcome to the Parenting Board!

I'm sorry to learn that your d19 has BPD, I also have a daughter, 19 who was dx with emerging BPD at age 12.  She doesn't live with me either and our relationship has drastically improved since she was younger.  There is hope!

Looking through the Tools and Lessons in the side bar will provide you with the info you need to respond to verbal assaults, support her without enabling her, and keep your sanity through it all.  The members are here to help you as you learn and support you throughout your journey.

Has your d19 been in therapy for her BPD and anxiety?  What kind?
