Just curious if this could be part of my husband having BPD, but I have always found it odd that he has never seemed to get excited or happy or show joy towards any upcoming good / happy / positive event in life (i.e: kids' graduations, trips planned, births, marriages, celebrations, etc). Maybe it's just his personality in general, but it's always kind of been a bummer when I feel and show happy, excited anticipation during these times and he kind of pulls the "Archie Bunker" card and acts like he could care less, or finds ways to criticize me for being excited, or to criticize the situation in general. Just wondering if that is part of the disorder.
No idea if it falls under the disorder but now that you mention it experienced the same thing. I spoiled my wife and looking back there were many, many occasions throughout our marriage that she knew she was supposed to be super grateful, and she would say thank you, but that's about as far as it went; it's as if she knew the script but could only deliver a flat reading of the lines. Honestly towards the end it became a real bummer because even going through the motions seemed like a chore to her.
Just my $.02
