What is this?
Think About It... Acceptance doesn't mean you approve; it doesn't mean you're happy about something; it doesn't mean you won't work to change the situation or your response to it, but it does mean that you acknowledge reality as it is--with all its sadness, humor, irony, and gifts--at a particular point in time...~ Freda B. They say that BP's wear a mask and woo us into falling for them in the early months. Desparately trying to behave, before they let go and use us as their emotional sponges to soak up all their self hatred and misery.

so, how long did your honeymoon last till the anger/hostility/cheating/lying/deserting/re-engaging/ etc... began ?

To be honest I was so engrossed into my own pain from my mothers death I was quite oblivious to much of his craziness so my "honeymoon stage" was probaly a self induced one that lasted in my mind longer than in reality.

There are ups and downs, its not horrible all the time which is why so many of us stay. The good times truly become few and far between then you have kids, or other issues that make it harder to leave.

Hard to say.  The first few dates, first few weeks, were definitely a "honeymoon", but after that, there were blips.  I don't know if the over-the-top honeymoon periods ever lasted more than a week or two before something would creep in.  But I was with my exh for 20 years, and he wasn't as extreme as many here, so it is hard to say for sure.

The day I will remember forever, about 1.5 years in, we were wanting a child together, and waiting each month with excitement. That was the day, she told me two things, the first you guessed already, the second was, I'm leaving you, you S.O.B., the first of the month. She has been leaving ever since, until the last three. What changed, I don't love or want her anymore, now she wants to stay.

The honeymoon stage with my APD/NP husband was for about 6 months when we first started dating...we have brief honeymoon stages that come and go...lately they have been getting longer...any where from 1-2 years...

2 months good stuff, then it was all downhill

i used to think it was about a year, but with a little more distance from it all i realize that it was much shorter than that. strange things were happening about 4 or 5 months into the "relationship". and after that it just spiralled downwards, becoming ever more difficult and problematic.

If you're referring to the "honeymoon" stage as the reprieve between the nasty outbursts it would be about 1 month - used to be 3 weeks.
