Title: My daughter. I feel so broken and sad.
Post by: Nightskygazer on January 16, 2019, 10:03:27 PM
It’s difficult to know where to begin. I want hope... .for my daughter, for her father, her sister, and myself. My older daughter is 25 and has BPD behaviors. I feel so broken and sad. I am seeing a therapist and that is helping. I don’t think anyone can imagine what it’s like unless you’re living it, too. That’s why I’m here.

Hi and welcome to the board.  I am so sorry you had to find us but I am glad you did and that you reached out for help and support.

We have a lot of parents here who do understand the difficulties of loving a child with  BPD or BPD traits and I am sure will be able to relate and share what works/worked for them in terms of self care and changing how they interact with their child.

What sort of behaviors does your daughter engage in?  How old is your other daughter and what is her relationship like with her sister?   Other than here, do you have a support system?

Sorry for all the questions.  I am just trying to get a better feel for your situation.  Answer as you feel comfortable.  I do hope you settle in and read and post in other threads as it can help you quite a bit.  We all work together and share what has and has not worked.  It really helps to know you are not alone too.

I came here a couple of months ago asking the same question. Is there hope? I am happy to say I can now say without equivocation YES there is. You can learn new skills that will help your child and put you in a better place. You already started therapy and you found us. Those are huge steps in the right direction already.

Hello Nightskygazer

I would like to join the others in welcoming you here and say how sorry I am that you and your family are going through this.

Does your daughter live with you, your husband and your other daughter?

I can relate to feeling broken and sad, it can be devastating trying to deal with a family member who has BPD. I am glad that you are finding therapy helpful. What about your husband and your other daughter, how are they coping?

Nightskygazer, there is always hope and you have come to the right place for help and support. I look forward to hearing more from you
