Title: *Daughter: Is there any hope that she can get better?
Post by: TTLS on November 20, 2017, 10:12:41 PM
My daughter is 31, married with two kids.  Is there any hope that she can get better?  I see it's affecting her 7 year old daughter and she puts her husband through hell.  How can you help the BP to help themselves?  Can anyone recommend a therapist in O.C. CA that specializes in this all consuming disorder?  Thank you

Hi TTLS:

The link below, at the Psychology Today website, offer a good search resource.  You can search by zip code or cities.  Then, you can narrow your search by various criteria.

The link below leads to a self-help website that uses DBT therapy.  The exercises there can be helpful for anyone, and especially helpful for people with BPD traits, anxiety and other disorders.

Hello TTLS,
Many people with BPD find their way to treatment with some necessary space, love and support. There a many stories here on this board about how loved ones have found their way into treatment.

Has your d been diagnosed with with BPD?

Hello TTLS

 *hi*

I join No-One and Daisy123 welcoming you here. Many parents with grands and children are in a similar situation to you, you are not alone

As Daisy123 says many people find their way into treatment with our understanding and gentle support of loved ones. I learnt my daughter had to be ready to take on the most painful challenge, face her fears, herself, its been small steps. We also have parents here who have learnt the skills and lessons, based DBT  |---> and are making equivalent progress with their child, who is not in treatment.

TTLS what behaviours is your daughter expressing?

Is a good place to start.
