Title: Meditation and Mental Disorders

So I am still pretty new to this site, although I have been involved with someone with a mental disorder for almost 3 years now might I say it's really nice to have people out there who understand. I just recently bought a book called Hard to Love and another called Mindfulness. The one Mindfulness is on meditation and I have read a couple things on how meditation can help with all kinds of mental disorders. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I don't know about the person with a disorder, but it can certainly help you.  I try to meditate every day if possible, if only for 10 minutes.  Even if my mind is so jumbled I can't focus, I still just sit still and quietly for the time, just to have a few minutes away from it all.  You might want to experiment with different kinds of meditation to see what works for you.  I tried the Zen route for a while, but I found I was too distracted by worrying about how I was sitting and holding my hands, etc.  I found that just sitting comfortably with closed eyes works for me. Sometimes I whisper a mantra, sometimes I count to ten, other times just pay attention to my breathing.  Whatever works that day.  Give it a try.  I have found that just knowing that I have a few minutes scheduled to not think or worry about anything makes me look forward to it all day.
