Title: Doing my best to help my daughter, how can I help her?
Post by: Opal1056 on August 18, 2017, 07:31:18 PM
I am the mother of a 19yr old transgender daughter who has recently been diagnosed with BPD.  I believe that my husband (soon to be ex) also suffers from BPD or narcissistic personality disorder. We have no other children.

My daughter is living away from home, attending college and working p/t in the pacific NW-I  live in New England.  She is very bright and articulate, as well as passionate about her beliefs.  She has a lot of compassion and empathy for others.  She used to be funny and fun to be with, but not recently :[
She is very dependant on me, and is in crisis on a daily basis.  She's often terribly anxious, depressed and frequently suicidal.  She is not willing to accept her diagnosis, take meds that have been prescribed, and has already "gone through" a number of doctors and mental health providers where she is currently living. When I have visited her, she is both emotionally abusive and sometimes physically as well.

DD has a long history of hospitalizations and has DCF involvement.  She insists that she has PTSD from all of those past issues-

I am struggling with trying to help her, but still take care of myself-sometimes I just want to give up, but I know that I will never do that-I  just need some support and suggestions from other in the same boat!  Thanks
