Title: Rejoice with me My grandson's back home
Post by: RedRyder on January 08, 2019, 11:26:56 AM
Leaving out lots of detail, but I wanted to update our situation and post that my 8 years old GS came home yesterday.

My BPD38D called to say she was not ready to care for him full-time. Lots of crazy stuff happened in his weeks away from here. BTW, I stood strong and told BPD38D that she would have to sign a power of attorney to me making me her attorney-in-fact for any and all issues for my GS or I couldn't do it any longer and she complied. There's a clause in the poa that it can only be  revoked by written mutual consent.

Hope she gets help for herself. Moving forward with helping the little one.

I have really been going through so much with my DD19 in the past few weeks.  It has been a nightmare and not knowing your circumstances, I do know the issues with this dreadful condition, and having an innocent child mixed in with the messes must be awful to have to witness.  Knowing that you have been able to remove the child from this and help stabalize them does bring joy to my heart for you.  I know what we go through and it breaks my heart that any of us has to, but being able to protect the children who get mixed in, by all means necessary, brings relief and joy.  You can count on it, RedRyder, I absolutely am celebrating this not small at all victory with you and for you.

I'm here with you and LoveOnThe Rocks, celebrating this victory which is indeed cause for rejoicing, RedRyder!

As LotR says,
being able to protect the children who get mixed in, by all means necessary, brings relief and joy.

It's great your DD agreed to the poa agreement, perhaps a sign that she, too, wants what's best for GS8.

How are you all adjusting to him being back in your care? Are there plans in place for visitation with your DD?

Thanks for sharing this joyous update, RedRyder! I'm smiling ear to ear

~ OH

OH:

He's been gone 4 weeks, so I'm still in kid-mode

No plans for visitation at this time. When we get to that point, I'm going to steer it to a public place (ie, McDonald's, etc.) as I suspect actually seeing him settled in my home is a trigger for her. Also, there are witnesses if anything goes south. And I want us to feel safe in our home. We all deserve that sense of security and safety.

Much appreciation for your kind words. RR

Hi RR

I can’t imagine the relief you must feel. I really admire how you kept your boundary and have plans already for their future interactions. Wise mind decisions!

so how is it going with your grandson back home? how are you both doing?

It's been a bit of an adjustment for him. He "lived" in 3 places in 30 days. Dragged pillar to post. But he was welcomed back warmly by his teacher, classmates and neighborhood friends, so that helped his self-esteem a lot. He seemed anxious at first, but seems to be re-adapting well. My huband and I are doing what we can to get him back into some kind of normal life and routine. Lots of hugs seem to help.

Me? Well, I'm doing okay. I'm trying to take it one day at a time at this point. And being very thankful that my GS  is safe and sound.

Thanks, OR!  :hi:

Good Morning:
I just wanted to encourage you a little today.  I know that you all have been through so much and imagined as I caught up on the board that by now, perhaps you all are settling into a routine.  Keep stress low is what I am hearing all the time, because of a disease I have in my nervous system (CRPS), and in the past few weeks, with my dxD being gone, my stress levels have plummeted, and I am just now beginning to get my head clear and myself calmed down.  I feel amazing to now be so overwhelmed all the time, worrying about, and over what might come next.
Own your home.  Own your way of doing things.  Don't allow anyone to turn it upside down, or get you upset, because they are upset or want to be upset.  Give that GS of yours a calm, peaceful and stable world to grow up in.  He deserves it, and so do you.  Im thinking of you all during the new year... .and wishing all the best for you.

Thank you, LOTR, for your kind, wise and thoughtful words.  :hi:

I feel we're in a good place at the moment. GS is happily settled back in school, playing again with his neighborhood friends, and back in his long-term extracurricular activities. We're all starting to feel settled and peaceful again. Praying it lasts.
