Title: Do they ever stop being offended - even in recovery?
Post by: meerkat1 on September 09, 2014, 08:14:48 AM
I am wondering if anyone considered in recovery can tell me if their pwBPD has stopped getting offended by stupid stuff?

I need to know if there is hope.

Well, my 37 year-old son was diagnosed with BPD in April 2013, and has been in recovery ever since (DBT at the 21-day Intensive In-Patient Dual Diagnosis Program that diagnosed him, ongoing Out-Patient Therapy, Psychiatric Therapy and Neurofeedback Therapy).

And, he doesn't get offended any more by stupid stuff    He gets along so much better with his Dad and me, with really very few dysregulations anymore (and they are rarely related to something we've said or done; he is still dealing with his own self-image and negative self-talk). His leanings toward mild depression or dysregulation is related to his frustration with himself now... .But these don't happen very often anymore.

He's not married, though, and the parent/child relationship isn't the same as the husband/wife relationship (or partner/partner relationship)... .
