Title: returning member, starting therapy
Post by: telecaster68 on January 16, 2017, 07:00:11 AM
I was a regularish poster on this board a few years ago, and drifted away after going NC with my uBPD mum. I'm 48, married, the elder of two children, and did the whole invisible good child thing. My mum's completely resistant to treatment, physically abused my dad who flips between his master's voice and moving out... .I went non contact with them a few years ago after refusing to be triangulated into manipulating my sister (my sister and I are really close).

I've started therapy for some marital issues and unsurprisingly it's brought up a ton of FOO stuff. My therapist look like he'd hit the mother load (literally) when it came up.

So, I'm back!

Hi Telecaster68

Welcome back. When I was in Therapy, I found this website very helpful for validation and techniques for dealing with my BPD. I tried 3 therapists and none had more than a rudimentary knowledge of BPD, so it was nice to top that up with something else. The combo seamed to work very well. How is Therapy working for you ? What BPD things are you currently working on ?

Thanks - I've started another thread about the therapy issues.

Thankfully, my therapist seems to 'get' BPD. Only had one session so far, so it's early days.
