Title: Suggested support forums for pwBPD?
Post by: outhere on December 31, 2022, 08:57:49 AM
Hi folks.  My uBPDw is looking for support groups.  She found some on Facebook but she says they're not well moderated and full of toxic, triggering stuff.  Can anyone recommend a positive space like this one but for pwBPD?

Hi outhere,

That's positive that your W is open to help. And it also makes sense that a Facebook group won't be enough, or well structured/managed enough. Many pwBPD might need more structure and clear boundaries to heal better.

While bpdrecovery.com is still up online, it looks like the forums (fora?) haven't been active since 2016, unfortunately.

NEA-BPD does have a more active Recovery Resources (https://www.borderlinepersonalitydisorder.org/consumer-recovery-resources/) section; perhaps the "Family Resource Directory" link could be worth a try?

Both of those are considered reputable sites, as is NAMI, which has a Support and Education (https://www.nami.org/Support-Education)page with a Support Groups link.

I'd probably start with the NEA-BPD and NAMI links first -- hope those are a helpful direction for your W;

I found a facebook group that is reasonably well moderated and for the most part is a safe place for borderlines.

 :caution:

No topic is off the table and it does contain triggering content; however, TW's - trigger warnings are strictly enforced by the moderators.

It is a group for borderlines by borderlines.  I am hanging out there to learn the thought processes of the borderline and to be supportive of my uBPDw, I have learned a lot to cope with her condition and to be supportive of her.

I have been previously moderated [post deleted] with the link to this group; however, if you are interested in it, send me a PM.

NOTE TO MODERATOR ONLY DELETE THE NAME OF THE GROUP IF IT IS IN VIOLATION OF BPD FAMILY'S POLICIES, please leave the rest of this post in-tact.

The name of the facebook group is "Borderline Personality Disorder Support & Awareness"

This facebook group is NOT endorsed by BPD Family.

Thanks to you both!  NAMI does have a somewhat active online forum but the interface is very poor and I'll check out that FB group.  It is indeed very encouraging that my wife is aware of her difficulties and wants to work on them.

Wow that FB group is... umm... difficult to look at, but I can see how it might help us understand the condition.
