Title: Alan Fruzzetti Video
Post by: RobertX on January 20, 2022, 05:01:17 AM
Just wanted to thank this group for sharing the Alan Fruzzetti video.  Whilst one swallow doesn't make a spring we tried totally changing how we interacted with our son based on Alan's advice regarding validation and empathy.  It had a dramatic difference  - even when our son started to attack.  We need to get much better at this - however we have now seen it in action and it led to a much better, calmer outcome.  We are committed to re-programming how we speak to him although not naive that this is a long journey.  We'll take every bit of positive progress we can get.  Many thanks to this group and to Alan.

That's really good news RobertX. Hope it keeps working and is the start of a new way of interacting.

Good luck Kimmcat - I was writing to notes to my wife whilst my son was on the phone...helping her to remember to validate and empathise...it was a team effort but really did appear to improve things.  I know that this is a long process but I'll take anything that appears to help.
