Title: Sometimes this seems impossible
Post by: GMama on August 23, 2015, 01:01:25 AM
And by this I mean raising a child with BPD. I get exasperated - because I know she simply does but see or process things the same way a "normal" person would, at the same time I think she can be taught, but she just doesn't GET IT. It's breaking me down. Sometimes I just want her to go away - and isn't that just awful for a mother to think of that of her own child? I just want everyone safe, physically and mentally.

Don't feel bad, I have felt the very same. Trying to be the support system of a child (whether adult or not) with BPD is a roller coaster and can cause us issues that make us question our own sanity.

My daughter has me questioning my sanity all the time, and I too wish she would just go away. We have four other children, one older and the rest younger. I hate what our daughter's mental illness is doing to our family dynamic and home life. It really bothers me that my other children have to witness such hostility and have so much stress in their home. It breaks my heart.

I'm sorry you are so exasperated, we get it.

It's important to practice self care and take breaks whenever possible.  We have to put our own oxygen masks on first!
