Title: anyone know what could cause a drastic personality change?
Post by: sometimesnow on March 15, 2012, 05:20:52 PM
i talked to my doctor today and i always assumed his issue was major depression.

but the doctor thought it was something else, but pscyhiatric in nature.

he all of the sudden, without a major fight or anything declared he was done with the relationship, refused to speak, interact, say hello, make plans or do anything.

then just plain mean and mentally abusing me. accussing me of having BPD, detaching... locking up all his belongings, being very secretive.

etc.

? Ideas

anyone know what could cause a drastic personality change?

The personality change is part and parcel of a hidden personality disorder. Borderlines are chameleons. Being depressed is a consequence of living with blame. The blame is often projected outwards toward a person that represents their inner scapegoat, i.e, you.

I saw these changes in both my mother and friend wBPD.

Two things seemed to run concurrent- an event or change that triggered major stress, often a fear of abandonment. Also feeling humiliated or inadequate.
