Title: Emotional Deprivation Disorder
Post by: Fallingskies on January 13, 2013, 05:22:46 PM
Hello

I came across with a question and would like to share some thoughts.

I did some research and found the definition of "Emotional Deprivation Disorder". Living with a BPD better half has made some behaviours of mine more obvious since his personality is sometimes agressive. I was wondering if it is possible the experience of living with a BPD can make someone develop this king of disorder or if interacting can make something one has always had to come out in the open.

Thanks for reading, in advance

I'm wondering if this is not considered a "suitable" question ... .  Or maybe it isn't clear?... .

I did some research and found the definition of "Emotional Deprivation Disorder"*

Hi Fallingskies

This is a term developed by a single researcher (or possibly two people jointly). Tewes, I believe is one of the names. You can find their books by googling. It is not in the DSM AFAIK, and seems to have a lot of overlap with conditions that are. I read one of the books and while some of it seemed useful, I think I'd prefer to go with existing terminology myself, if only so that I can talk with everybody else.   :)
