Title: Difficulty expressing happiness/joy? Post by: Dave44 on January 29, 2013, 09:42:06 PM I'm curious to know if anyone here had any experiance with their exBPD's having trouble expressing happiness or joy? As we know BPD's have difficulties with emotions in general but in my case I can't help but think back to many examples where her reaction to something that would normally bring happiness where a little odd. For example when I would buy her a gift or get her flowers her response left me a little puzzled. I couldn't, and still can't put my finger on it. I mean she was happy, but it just wasn't what you would expect the "normal" reaction to be. I noticed this on many different occasions... . almost like something was missing. I can't seem to find anything written up on this and wondered if anyone here could shed some light on it?

I mean, eyes light up, very exuberant to the point where it appeared he could jump up and down. When he got happy he was kind of childlike. It was one of the thing i loved so much about him. Ive heard other people say this too. However, when he dysregulated, and in detached protector mode, completely empty.
