Title: Obsessing over Work Instead of ExGf
Post by: nowwhatz on February 13, 2013, 02:48:01 PM
Ok so I was with the T yesterday and discussed things going on with me and ongoing work "drama."

After I explained what I was doing related to work the T said it sounded like I was obsessing over the work drama instead of the exgf.  (as opposed to the prior recycle where I meted down and obsessed over the exgf).

The T also suggested that I am now trying to control or "fix" things with work that I have little or zero control over... .  almost like I have redirected my rescuing/problem solving behavior away from the gf and to the work drama... .  but the behavior is the same.

Of course the T said that all of that was a waste of time and energy for me.

Has anyone else gone through detachment by over-focusing or obsessing over another area in their lives?

Could be on to something.  I find there are two things going on new with me at work.  All those months in the fog, I couldn't concentrate real well on work stuff.  So now I'm sharper and more in tune with work stuff.  Second, when I was feeling so low and down on myself, everyone else tended to take that view too.  It's a matter of rebuilding my work rep and changing how people view me.  Having the focus there versus ex's latest silent treatment is healthier.  I don't pay much attention to gossip or that sort of thing, don't care.

What exactly is your focus at work, what do you mean by drama?
