Title: R these people violent and/or dangerous
Post by: drv3006 on March 20, 2013, 08:49:08 AM
So I am trying to stay away now.  I am getting these late night calls and messages that are five minutes long ranting and raving about everything that is wrong with me.   Then the answering machine's (yes I still have an answering machine)  time is up.  Then calls right back ranting and raving about what is wrong with me agan till the machine cuts him off.   Late at night too.   He said he has anger issues and that he uses DBT for that.  But I am kind of afraid to block him.  I have before it just gets him more upset.  I get kida scared sometimes.  When he gets on these rants there is a far off look about him.  Anyway,  do BPD have a tendency to be physcially abusive or damaging to property and stuff.   Just asking.    And I deleted the messages this time.  I didn't listen to them at all.   That is hard to do by the way, but proud I did it.  He has neer hit me but man sometimes he crreps me out in his voice and stuff.   And he just hates everything about me.

Well, I think the best indicator of violence is a history of violence.

However, history always begins with a first time.

The impulsivity and anger in BPD can be a dangerous mix.

If you dont respond usually a person will go through an extinction burst and eventually tire of calling.

I think the important thing is for you to feel safe. What could you do to feel safer?

Maybe call a domestic violence hotline and talk with a counselor about this.

Or, call the police and see what they say.

Or, stay with a friend for a couple nights?

Or have a friend stay over with you?

Is he actually threatening you in any of these messages? If so, I'd probably keep the message and call the police.
