Title: Self improvement goals Post by: XL on March 20, 2013, 04:15:34 PM I feel like I've come a fairly far way in self improvement. I've committed to exercise, I'm in a pretty stable relationship. I still feel like I have a bizarre personality, all things considered, but I'm doing pretty well right now.
My new goals (I guess they're fleas to get rid of): -not bad-mouthing people. My family does this too much, and I've been guilty too. -not being jealous of others -not being perfectionistic. Defending my life from absurd perfectionism in others. -not living in fear of nature/travel/life I don't want to live my life moping in a house and stewing about slights from family members. It's a sad, dark way to live. Title: Re: Self improvement goals Post by: Clearmind on March 20, 2013, 06:17:50 PM Awesome! |iiii You are going through some self-inquiry.
This is important - it takes the focus off the past. Title: Re: Self improvement goals Post by: GeekyGirl on March 21, 2013, 08:53:14 AM That's great, XL--I really like how you're really looking at this and putting your goals on "paper." That takes a lot of courage. :)
One thing that has helped me, and may help you, is to take baby steps and celebrate milestones. Setting realistic goals can keep you on track and motivated. Instead of saying, "I'm going to lose 50 lbs," for example, you start small and say, "I'm going to lose 5 lbs to start," and reward yourself with something small when you lose that 5 lbs. Then you just keep going. I've done that quite a bit, with things ranging from cleaning out my closet to tasks at work. Just something for you to think about... . |
