Title: What is your attachment style?
Post by: just_think on March 22, 2013, 09:27:32 AM
As brought up in another post by wishingwell17, attachment style can shed a lot of light on our relationship patterns.

A quiz:

If you know what your partners' was as well, post that too.  I imagine a lot of us are anxious with a few secure thrown in for good measure.  I'm thinking a lot of avoidant-fearful partners, maybe some avoidant-dismissive.

Me: Anxious

Her: Avoidant-fearful (heavy NPD traits with some BPD thrown in for good measure)

previous relationship dynamics:

me:anxious her:avoidant-dismissive

me:secure? her:avoidant-fearful (diagnosed BPD)

me:avoidant-fearful? maybe secure? her:anxious

You'd be right on the money there.

As part of my job, I cover some of this material, and decided to take the test myself one day (based on Ainsworth's attachment styles.  We also did the Hazan and Shaver ones, for adult type attachment).

I got Insecure-ambivalent or insecure-anxious (dependent on test, but really similar anyway)

I then asked her to take the test (just for fun really, we were happy together at this point)

She got insecure-avoidant.
