Title: BiPolar mom on Dr. Phil
Post by: suraleya on March 28, 2013, 10:28:10 AM
I'm watching Dr. Phil and my worst fear is being described.  A couple allowed the grandmother who was diagnosed BiPolar to watch their two little boys and the grandmother killed her grandsons and then herself.

It is seriously heartbreaking.  I am currently pregnant with my first baby and my parents first grandchild.  My mom is uBPD and I am scared to death of what is coming trying to handle her being around my child.  Thankfully we live far away from my mom- but she swears when the baby comes she'll be visiting every month :-(

I should probably turn Dr. Phil off :-(

Suraleya, oh that is really sad. I hear you, and understand your fear. For one thing, turning off Dr. Phil might be a good thing. I don't watch the news anymore because I just want to hear happy things. :) But, for another, I think you have a good point. You're the child's mother, and you want everything good for that child. You want him/her to be protected, safe and loved. What level of contact are you comfortable with between you and your mom and your child and your mom?
