Title: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Post by: motherof1yearold on March 28, 2013, 06:42:32 PM *** I wasn't sure WHERE to post this because I have been divorced 8 months , and normally post on the "parenting after the split" board but this is a bit different, so my apologies!***
So it took me a while, but after the split I began going to the only local DV center. I just go to one weekly group session. So far I have been mildly satisfied... . mainly because of the fact they ONLY focus on "safety planning" for those still in the relationship and thinking about leaving. There is NOTHING as far as parenting with an abuser. Soo , coincidentally today we had the state dv advocate surveying us and our experience with the center. All 5 of us in the group felt unsatisfied . The state advocate asked if anyone was using any online support and I gave her the URL for BPD family and 2 other ladies took down the address (which I was glad, since their stories seem to fit BPD !) But mainly I would like to say thanks to BPD family for this site and support since it is like no other. I feel this is the only place people "get it" . Please share your experiences with DV groups/ shelters. I am eager to here. Thanks. |
