Title: Looking for new L Post by: scraps66 on April 03, 2013, 08:57:46 AM Had a consult a few weeks ago with an atty. As of this week I have an urgent need for representation.
I was dead set on now trying a "male" attorney after now having two female attorney's. But, this firm has all females in my area. Anyway, met with an associate attorney, young, and has five years of experience. She gave me some decent answers to questiosn I had asked, better answers than I had gotten for the last, local to courthouse embedded, female, 50s-ish and alleged "well-respected" attorney I interviewed. I'm divorced, but still have lingering and frequent issues with my BPD (w/NPD traits)x that need to be addressed. I also have outlandish issues with my support and arrears that need to be addressed. I've been trying to do this on my own, and I can see it's not going to work. There is too much obstinance and bad treatment of pro se litigants in my courthouse, and with opposing counsel. So, my biggest issue, the age. Very young appearance. Is that enough to make me reconsider hiring this firm, and this attorney? Rates are lower with this firm and they chant being pro-dad. the pro-dad chant seems encouraging. the fact that she knew her stuff also seemed encouraging. the fact that she's relatively young and not an old, established bulldog may be a hindrance, but as you and others have found out, sometimes the more established firms don't have time for you or aren't as good anyway. a lot of these lawyers have their pluses and minuses. go with your gut. seems like she is a fit. still keep interviewing other lawyers just in case. Pro-dad is a good angle and if they are establishing that reputation, its in their best interest to get the best results for you too. Win/Win. It certainly comes down to hearing what you need to hear and seeing the process play out they way you want. |
