Title: Our Therapy Needed As well as their own
Post by: ohmygosh on April 09, 2013, 10:04:01 AM
Hi folks

Just the common phrase springs to mind "you become like the people you associate with" - I know for one I have my own abandonment issues now.  So for starters that's one BPD symptom, can add to that low self esteem and emptiness feelings having endured a BPD relationship.

Based on this I have actually started doing DBT therapy online training sessions and finding it very helpful to my own recovery.  Think it's true to say it actually makes sense to give it s go all be it therapy designed for the BPD person.

Actually finding it very interesting.

Good to hear that you are exploring about yourself doing DBT!

I can relate to it very much. I had/have so much benefit from my DBT experienced T.

It's actually one of the reasons why the common advice is often given to NONS in the end of their relationship not to tell their (about to) ex that they have BPD because it seems that you as well, at that point time, have all the common traits.

Ok, yes that makes sense although I would say some of the common traits not all.  Haven't resorted to dishonesty, self harm, cheating denial etc but have definately developed some of the traits as mentioned am confident that will be tempory as unlike the x am admitting to my problems and getting help.  I hope that in any case.  Regards

One would be enough.

Scenario

You: My dear ex I think because of all your BS (enter all the crap) you have BPD

Ex: Hmm ... . (types in www.wikipedia.com ... . BPD)

Ex: ... . reads the first trait ... .

Ex: YOU HAVE BPD!

Ex: [insert loads of rages and all that crap ... . ]

: )

DBT is like emotional kindergarten!

I think it should be taught in school as the tools are helpful for anyone with any emotion (and we are human, we all have emotions).

Thanks for sharing!
