I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this; my uBPD/NPDh seems to live in a time warp, the music he listens to all belongs to the 50's 60s n early 70's, the furniture and decor he'd choose (if I let him) is all from those eras and the way he talks, the phrases he uses and opinions are old fashioned. Everything he likes seems to belong to long ago. Maybe it is because his parents were older (in their 40's) when they had him and his sisters are all older, it's just strange to me that he doesn't move with the times. I've also considered that perhaps although he claims to have no memories of his childhood; apart from when he has been distressed or under the influence and tells me disturbing abuse stories which are very vague but shocking nonetheless which he later denies if I mention them, that he is somehow stuck in that period of childhood before he was forced to grow up and be a man aged 12 ( his dad died and he was told to look after his mum n sisters ) leaving school and working to provide financial support. Perhaps although his childhood was traumatic it is familiar and strangely comfortable so he tries to hold on to it because it is easier than the unfamiliar here now and future. Perhaps of course he may just like being old fashioned?

Has anyone any thoughts or familiarity with this?

It could be that he just doesn't like change.  My H had a very hard time moving on with the times, but it is because change is very hard for him.  Like he will wear the same t-shirts until they are literally falling apart, even though he has brand new ones in the closet.

While she did live in her own reality as far as what was right and wrong, I did not notice any affinity to any specific time period, she liked ancient history, 80's music and pop music, modern furniture and clothing... .   so nope, did not see anything like you say.  I think in the general population there are people that get caught in time-warps, not sure if there is mental illness involved or it is just a nostalgic draw.
