Title: Where to begin
Post by: Beachbumforlife on April 24, 2013, 02:13:38 PM
Looking around this site with the abundance of great information (articles, lessons, books to read, threads etc), I'm amazed!  But also, I admit, a little over-whelmed.  Anyone care to share a general strategy on where to begin?  I'm pretty accepting of the condition, so I'm not in breakthrough mode.  I am interested in learning more and healing though.

And thank you for all the info.  More is better than less.   |iiii

Hi beach bum!

One really good place to start is right over there ------>

See that box to the right? that says "survivors guide"? You can click on those.

I think one of the most helpful things for me has been Christine Lawson's book "understanding the borderline mother". The first part of the book describes the different types of BPD mothers (waif, hermit, queen and witch) but the last part of the book is about how we, as the adult children, can deal with this--not just how to deal with the BPD mother, but with ourselves and the damage this childhood has caused. That part is absolutely invaluable.
