Title: Stuck between my GF and my roommates
Post by: blondie34 on April 29, 2013, 06:38:27 PM
My BPD partner and my roommates do not get along.

I do not know how to handle the situation with her. She feels that they are disrespectful towards her  and me and have prejudged her. She is correct that they have judged her without knowing who she is. I have spoken to my roommates and they will respect my decision to whom I choose to spend time with and develop a relationship with. They are placing blame onto her that should be placed on me. I have tried to explain that anything she does has been because I have said it is okay, but they have their preconceived notions and automatically place the blame onto her. I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place.

Everything my partner says is correct and she has very valid points and I have acknowledged her feelings. I did not approach my roommates in a fashion that she would respect and she feels like I am not supporting her or defending her based on how I have chosen to handle the situation.  I don't know how to handle the conversation with her later as to how things went because she will feel as though I did not defend her or that I am not a stand up kind of person. I want to continue a relationship with her, but know that based on my roommates alone that she will want to end things.
