Title: My Mum diagnosed BPD
Post by: pammydoll on June 13, 2013, 09:45:58 AM
Hi   I'm 42 and an only child.  I live in Scotland.  My Mum is currently hospitalised after her third suicide attempt in 8 weeks and has been diagnosed as BPD.  I am trying to understand the diagnoses and am reading Understanding the Borderline Mother (I cried with relief whilst reading!)  I am looking for any words of wisdom and have posted in the healing forum with some of the story I find it difficult to articulate everything that has happened.  Thanks for listening xxx

 *welcome*

Hi pammydoll,

I'm so glad you found this site.  You will find a lot of support and understanding here.  I'm very sorry to hear about your mom's suicide attempts, that is very scary.

You are not alone, as you have seen on the Healing board, there are members here who have been in similar situations.

Here is link that might be helpful as you learn about this disorder: Coping when a Family Member has BPD Lessons/Survivor's Guide to Childhood Abuse (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=108307.0)

Please keep posting, it helps to share.  Let us know how we can support you. We are glad you're here.

Dear Pammydoll,

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

And also: You are in a good and safe place.  These message boards have helped me so much with coping with my BPD mother (who has also had numerous suicide attempts).

Best of luck to you!  Things will start making so much more sense now... .

Welcome!

WLW

PammyDoll, Welcome!

Borderline parents leave a legacy - are you seeking therapy?

My father has strong traits and while he much better now, as a child and into adulthood I certainly had some sorting out of my childhood to do. You are not alone.
