Title: Hang up calls
Post by: Blessed0329 on June 14, 2013, 04:30:07 PM
Can anyone explain to me what hang-up calls are about? Regardless of whether or not the caller has BPD, why would someone do this? Especially someone with whom you no longer have a relationship... . I don't understand the point.

I'm guessing to hear your voice.

I supposed that could be it. I wonder if it might also be to make sure I don't forget about him. It has been very quiet for about six weeks now, and I was beginning to think maybe it is finally over for good. Today's hangup call brought him back to the forefront of my thoughts.

Today's hangup call brought him back to the forefront of my thoughts.

I think you answered your own question  :)

Perhaps it's a way to initiate contact without him needing to be too obvious.  He could always say it was a mis-dial.

In a way it's a game of tag, now you're it.

Or it could be just simply wanting to hear you, but either way, it's made you think about him.  Sigh... .

Did his phone number appear so you knew it was him, or was his number withheld?

I have been getting hang up calls for months. I also wonder why "They" do this.

My ex does the same kindda thing. But more "pocketcall" style.

I've stopped answering the phone when it happens. Well, having a broken old phone while waiting for my Samsung to come back from repair has helped me too :D

Willingtolearn, I deleted my ex from FB mid March. That's when the hang up calls started, always from a blocked number, always to my office work phone, a call about every 10 days. The end of April he sent me a request to connect via Linked In. I accepted the request, and the hang up calls stopped. Today's was the first since LI. Today's was actually not blocked, but the caller ID indicated it came from a friend's phone. This friend of his is not someone I personally know, and not likely to have made the call for my ex. This does provide him with plausible deniability should I try to call him out on it. Weird.

The hang up calls i get are also on my office phone, never on my home phone or mobile.  I wonder why they do it to the office phone?  Weird.

I have thought that the calls to my work desk phone (not my work cell, personal cell, or home phone) gives my ex a sense of knowing where I am at that time.
