Title: Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome Post by: cleanandsober on June 26, 2013, 12:57:29 PM Our 16 yr. old daughter was seen at Sleep Wellness Clinic and was dx with Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. Does any one else here have this? I read it's common with ADHD... . She is definitely a night owl, as I am also. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree... .
Title: Re: Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome Post by: Reality on June 27, 2013, 02:41:42 AM This sounds intriguing, cleanandsober, as sleep difficulties are so common for a pwBPD. What does the clinic recommend as help for this problem?

Will the clinic be looking into ways to re-adjust your dd's sleep patterns? Title: Re: Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome Post by: cleanandsober on June 27, 2013, 10:48:16 AM The sleep doctor said if she wants to get thru high school (which she said she does, she has 2 more years) there is treatment, but it takes a lot of self-discipline (ha-ha). I was reading about how undiagnosed/untreated sleep disorders can lead to personality disorders. I have to get past my guilt for being so strict with her when she couldn't get up for school all these years. For now the doctor said every week decrease the time she wakes up by one hour. She has a very severe case of this, basically she is "on third shift". I am a night owl also (I work from 2pm to 9pm), this tends to run in families. We go back to the clinic next month. If they offered night high school that would be great! Thanks for listening... .
