Title: Fake profile sending friendship request on Facebook Post by: Billa on July 02, 2013, 08:48:33 AM I've received a friendship request from a profile created 47 minutes ago... . person unknown, no photo, just a picture, no friends, only information present: he is born in my same hometown and lives in this same place (my exBf lives in another town). Something in the gut is telling me that it is my ex, trying to connect with my facebook profile. I'm certainly not sure, but it's a fact that me unblocked me on Favebook an Whatsapp more or less a month ago and that, in the meantime, I've stopped posting both in my Fb and in our mutual friends walls... .

Title: Re: Fake profile sending friendship request on Facebook Post by: Billa on July 02, 2013, 08:57:48 AM Could be. Obviously do not accept it :) no way i could do it... . what's more strange, in the profile picture there are two men, one with a very small heart and another one with a big one, and a writing saying: "a question of weight", in spanish (the subject I teach at school... . ). Title: Re: Fake profile sending friendship request on Facebook Post by: Murbay on July 02, 2013, 09:10:25 AM As a rule, I don't accept anyone on Facebook that I don't know.
If it's someone I don't know, I check first how many mutual friends we have to give me some idea of where I might know them from. Anybody else, goes in the blocked list. It might be worth not blocking this contact just yet as it could be a genuine friend setting up an account, but just monitor it and if nothing changes then it's highly possible it could be your ex trying to gain access. Title: Re: Fake profile sending friendship request on Facebook Post by: Undone123 on July 02, 2013, 09:52:09 AM Man I had something crazy happen to me this week... . Thought I'd join a dating website. I know my ex sometimes uses them, so I did a search for her based on her pretty unique credentials, and she never showed up. I set up my account. Bang she's there. I think she may have been lying dormant waiting for me... . Then guess what - I send her a message saying "Hey you good?x"... . This will no doubt get twisted to form some part of a smear campaign. Needless to say I am not on it anymore. Man I feel so stupid

I don't know anyone with that name and this account -I've checked it -after four hours, still has no friends at all... . so, why should a perfect stranger want to gain access to my Facebook and only to it? it's a bit weird... . Just to add something more; in this period I'm very depressed, I don't date, I seldom go out with friends, who are a few ones which I consider very close friends, I haven't got to know anyone new for a long time... . So, or him, or some other disordered person. But who? Title: Re: Fake profile sending friendship request on Facebook Post by: Peterpan on July 02, 2013, 12:21:05 PM I also had something weird happen recently.
I always kept my old phone because it had some precious messages on which I couldn't bear to let go, for the most part it was shut down, however, I have used it in the past to text him if I had any probs with my new one. This would have been rarely, however, I recently opened it only to find a multitude of voicemails on it. Upon calling voicemail it appears my number has been posted on fliers all over my vacinty offering (a reputable trade) I assumed at first that the poster of these fliers had mis-printed a digit, but it is very unlikely as upn calling some of those numbers,,they are all in MY vacinty!,ver unlikely co-incidence for a mobile number Is he paranoid that I may be doing the same as he is, and using a second phone in secret Pretty sad really, I only ever kept it for him as I couldn't bear not to answer him! Title: Re: Fake profile sending friendship request on Facebook Post by: Cooper10 on July 02, 2013, 12:23:16 PM My ex used Facebook to mess with me all the time even after I defriended him. He had his brother friend request me and then used to post on other people's walls for me to see. Ultimately it was just another tool for him to disrupt my life and upset me, so I took it away by deactivating my account. It also prevented me from finding out things about him that were hurtful. It has been a really good experience to see life without Facebook and I highly recommend it.
