Title: Long Distance and the BPD Relationship
Post by: Pretty Woman on July 06, 2013, 01:31:58 PM
Hi All.  Happy Saturday!

Question: do long distance relationships ever work when one person is BPD? Of course I'm asking because my ex is dating her ex who lives six hours away.  Just curious what you think.  Thanks!

What is your definition of work?

Plenty of people have relationships that last with pwBPD.  Just look at the staying board.

The BPD doesn't go away though, so the issues may look slightly different, but they will be there without therapy.

What makes you ask?

I don't know but I know why you ask. My ex is in an overseas relationship. Whether or works or not to me it just means that there will be a slight delay in the new interest finding the truth about them out.

OR it may accelerate the process because their abandonment fears kick in and they go into overdrive with anxiety and such having the person being so far away. Who knows. Not me.

It's hard to not obsess. You want to feel vindicated and hope their next thing fails so you don't look and feel like the failure.
