Title: Quick mediation question--payment Post by: sanemom on August 02, 2013, 09:43:59 PM We have been court ordered to go to mediation. It is set up, but we have real concerns that dh's BPD ex won't pay. Two lawyers have fired her due to nonpayment; she never paid the GAL; etc. We have been ordered to pay half each, and I guess it is per hour. How have your experiences been in this kind of situation? Do you pay before it starts or once it is done? What if she comes without money? etc.

H pays half, not much benefit to be nice since it won't be reciprocated. Yes, she will probably still be blaming and insinuating but wouldn't that happen anyway?
However, it may not be that huge of a hurdle. I recall what happened with me a couple years ago. When I got custody and GAL & court said ex was to start getting child support, no one asked to see my ex's proof of income but my child's GAL volunteered to the court to just accept my GAL deposit/fee and waived seeking payment from the ex. And it was decided that N/BPDx would pay because he made serious money, and I didn't.
