Title: What is radical acceptance? Post by: Undone123 on August 13, 2013, 04:15:57 PM What is it? :)
Title: Re: What is radical acceptance? Post by: seeking balance on August 13, 2013, 05:15:42 PM I first heard the term used with Tara Brach in her book Radical Acceptance.
Basically, it is accepting the reality of the situation and working within the parameters. For example, we may want the sky to have a beautiful sunset into the ocean, but it is cloudy - no traditional sunset... . sitting at the beach looking for a traditional sunset anyways is not radically accepting the clouds will hamper the sunset you envisioned. But, radically accepting the clouds will change the sunset - perhaps finding a new beautiful in the cloudy sunset would be radically accepting the situation as it is. A quote from Tara Brach on it: “Radical Acceptance is the willingness to experience ourselves and our lives as it is.” ― Tara Brach, Radical Acceptance: Embracing Your Life With the Heart of a Buddha Title: Re: What is radical acceptance? Radical Acceptance for family members (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=89910.0) Undone, I question a bit out of the topic: I casually see you posting on Staying, Undecided and Leaving. Where are you in your relationship right now? To get the better picture whats going on... . Title: Re: What is radical acceptance?
