Title: Got in trouble for saying "Goodbye" too many times
Post by: maryy16 on August 17, 2013, 06:48:28 PM
Just a vent so thanks fior listening!

Two times now I said goodbye to H when I was leaving the house and he said goodbye back. But then I came back in the house because I forgot something,so as I was leaving he second time, one time I only said "bye" and the other time I said " ok now I'm really leaving. Haha. Goodbye"

For some reason both times this has really triggered my H! He angrily said to me "Geez,  how many times are you going to say goodbye? I get it... . you're leaving!" Now, I was only going to the store... . we were not fighting before this... . and this trigger is completely new for him.

Them this morning during a rage he got after me for being an anxious and nervous person ( which I fully admit to being - big surprise) and  one of the things I apparently do wrong  and need to stop doing is "repeatedly saying goodbye to him".

I know it's the BPD and I know the rules constantly change and that he NEEDS to argue with me and put me down, but now he's really getting ridiculous!

Even couples where neither of them are BPD have pet peeves regarding the other person.  It sounds like this is one of his, even if it's a new one.  Stop saying goodbye.  That problem is solved.

What is the real issue here?  This is a board for problem solving, not venting.  What is it that you want to work on regarding this situation?
