Title: How can we get her stuff back ? Post by: heronbird on September 15, 2013, 03:11:25 PM My dds dh has kicked her out, says he cant cope with her, he has kept the baby, he has mental health issues, not sure what, maybe OCD or ADHD.
They were married for 8 months, she had 3 breakdowns after the baby was born, he heard that he was going to loose the baby so he decided to kick her out get a divorce and keep the home and baby, so she has lost everything. Thing is, she needs some stuff, she is in hospital and has only the few bits she brought in with her, its got a lot colder and she needs warm clothes, she was going to re buy all the stuff but she has realised she cant now. Any ideas how we get her stuff back if he does not cooperate, hes got no reason, but we texted him and he wont reply. Its still early days, but just wondering. Post by: ForeverDad on September 15, 2013, 09:19:15 PM Police can do a 'peace visit', not sure but probably there's a better phrase for it, where they supervise the visit and make sure no incidents occur. It's limited to personal items unless the other person doesn't contest it. Generally the person who lived there is the one collecting the items, if she can't go she may need to give written instructions or permission for you or be available for the police to call her to confirm her wishes? Contact the local police, find out how they handle such things and then let them take control and run interference, that's their job. Don't be surprised if they're reluctant to get too involved in the matter. If their help is inadequate then ask the officers or their superior how to retrieve at least her personal items.
