Title: Music -- do you use it to help you heal? Post by: Learning2Thrive on October 01, 2013, 04:41:09 PM I love finding songs that resonate with current situations. They mark time and often are part of helping me process and heal. This song by Dido, The End of Night, captures the essence of what I have been feeling the last few weeks. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfWDBJ_LeP0
Of course, the part of the lyrics that say, "Come over here... ." I take as rhetorical. I really don't want her to actually come over. I don't want to see her face to face and don't feel like I'm quite strong enough for that yet anyway. But in my mind's eye, it helps me to visualize her watching me walk away from her/our relationship with NOTHING in my heart for her while at the same time celebrating myself and my life as a whole person, something that she can't possibly be (at least not now and not with a whole lot of therapy and work). I feel sad for her. I hope one day she finds the help she needs and does the work to have a whole life instead of the empty, endless black hole she carries around now. THIS is my BPD break up theme song... .Arcade Fire "Ready to start" "All the kids have always known That the emperor wears no clothes But they bow down to him anyway It's better than being alone" Whats better? Being tormented and twisted on a nearly daily basis, or being without that anchor weighing you down? "Now you're knocking at my door Saying please come out with us tonight But I would rather be alone Than pretend I feel alright" For so long I was caught in the FOG, pretending that it was all gonna be ok, but it only got worse... .and worse... .again, being alone (at zero) is better that being with them (negative 50)... .simple math really... .plus it will allow you to find somebody thats a PLUS!
