Title: BPD and Harry Potter Post by: larmieq on November 02, 2013, 09:40:37 AM This may sound silly, but I find that it helps me cope with the craziness of BPD.
One of my visualizations of my boundaries with my uBPD mom is to "cast my patronus". Shouting "EXPECTO PATRONUM"! is very powerful for me against her crazy making. Obviously not directly to her, but in the safety of my own home or just in my mind. I feel like she is a dementor and when I am near her that I will never be cheerful again or that my soul is being sucked from me. IF you like this, what would your patronus be? Title: Re: BPD and Harry Potter Post by: Maude on November 03, 2013, 08:58:00 PM Thanks for posting this! The funny thing is that I'm feeling hurt by uBPDmom and I just put Prisoner of Azkaban in the DVD player for background noise because somehow I find the Harry Potter stuff comforting. I totally get the dementor analogy, and have thought that too in relation to my mom. I need to bring out my patronus today. I think it might be a panther. Panthers are fierce. What's your patronus, Larmieq?

I like the idea of a fierce panther. I think I would like an elephant patronus. They are large, heavy and would be a good shield. Title: Re: BPD and Harry Potter Post by: Maude on November 04, 2013, 11:41:51 PM Larmieq, I think an elephant would be really effective as a patronus! *) I like the idea of the two of us, with our elephant and panther, staying safe from dementor-mothers.
