Title: Recognizing an opening?
Post by: Olesdatter on November 04, 2013, 11:46:20 AM
After a messy exchange of emails, my BPD father imposed the silent treatment & "I will never speak to you again" on me. I did a lot of reading yesterday (thank you, Geeky Girl!), and learned for the first time about S.E.T. He wrote me again this morning - insulting and angry - BUT I believe this is an opening for me to try to use S.E.T. I wrote him a short message back, with more empathy and support (and calmer!) and gave him positive kudos for seeing a counselor for PTSD.

I'm realistic, but hopeful at the same time... .I will update as to the outcome...

Thanks all,

Oles

Yay! I'm glad that SET is helping! It does take some practice, but it's a great tool.

Do keep us posted! We're all here for you.
