Title: GaL report, court tomorrow Post by: papawapa on November 07, 2013, 04:06:41 PM I finally received the report yesterday. Everything in it seems favorable. The phychologist that conducted our evals recommended her for DBT. Im pretty sure he diagnosed her with BPD. The best part of the entire report was in the recommendations. The GaL has recommended I retain temporary full legal and physical custody :-)
Court is tomorrow and it is not going to go well for my ex... . Title: Re: GaL report, court tomorrow Post by: ForeverDad on November 07, 2013, 04:36:58 PM Be prepared for someone in the court to try to soften or moderate the impact on your ex. Or they may try to guilt you into settling and accepting weaker terms. However, if you already have temporary custody of the children that may not be an issue. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
In my case, 2006-2013, until this last time in court my ex always was given far more than the benefit of the doubt. Last month we spent two days in family court and no decision has been issued yet. It ought to be very favorable, I'm optimistic but very cautiously. Remember, beware of being guilted into making some concessions you know will allow or encourage problems in the years to come. Tomorrow is about your children primarily, feel compassion for her on another day. Full legal and physical custody is a big deal -- hang on tight to that. I hope the court listens to the GAL report and doesn't try to broker something that is less than what's best for your kids. Title: Re: GaL report, court tomorrow Post by: papawapa on November 09, 2013, 06:58:12 PM The hearing went good. At this point it looks like everything will fall into place and I will eventually obtain full custody.
I have been granted child support and she has also been ordered to provide insurance for the kids. She pretty much melted down in court and made an a$s of herself while I stayed calm and didnt say much of anything. She has been ordered to start DBT, do another drug assessment, begin outpatient treatment and random drug tests. She claims she has to wait until the enrollment period to get insurance for herself at the endbof this year. A review hearing has been set for May. At that point I will have had temporary full custody for eleven months. Since she has failed to comply over the last five months I dont expect anything to change this time around.
